First thing today was the all hands meeting for the Student Health Center staff. We met Anna and she took us up to the meeting. The hour long meeting focused on the implementation of a new way for students to make appointments. The goal is and always has been to minimize the number of students who walk-in and would like an immediate appointment. From the meeting I gathered that students get fed up with calling in and just walk in. Since they are usually seen relatively soon many skip the step of making an appointment. This new system deals with the process of them calling. When they call in to make an appointment a nurse would speak to them and assess whether they need to be seen that day or later in the week. They also have the ability to schedule appointments online. Student Health has experienced a problem where students don't show for their appointments and don't call to cancel. Suggestions to have an email sent to students notifying them that they missed an appointment. Later, Cassie, Anna, and I discussed a penalty fee for missing more than one appointment without cancelling.

Following the meeting we walked home in the rain and headed out to Cisco Systems campus in the Research Triangle Park. Bon Appetit has three dining facilities on the campus, and to day is the monthly farmers market. Due to the inclimate weather, the farmers market had been moved into the dining area of the larger dining facility. We were greeted by the General Manager of the dining center, Rich. He was kind enough to gi us a tour and answer our questions. They subsidize much of the food in order to be able to provide organic and locally grown foods at a relatively low cost. They had several dining options including salad, sandwich, grill, mexican, stir fry, pizza, grab and go, coffee bar, ice cream, and bakery. We looked at the farmers market and then ate lunch.

We headed back to Duke and the Student Health Center for a health promotion meeting. The meeting included Franca Alphin, Anna, Kevin, ___ and Julie (nurse practitioner). They all discussed several health promotion projects in place and events for the school year. The meeting went from 2-4. After the meeting Cassie and I finish proposal typing up the proposal back at home. We drove over to East campus for dinner. The sweet potatoes were heavenly.
