We went to find the visitor center to get some information about the area. It was challenging to get there trying to navigate through the construction downtown. The very nice people at the visitor center explained that there are major renovations being done to the old tobacco warehouses downtown to turn them into shopping centers and high rise apartments. Today we also took some time exploring the area around campus. Nineth street is where the Duke apparel shop is along with unique restaurants. We ate at Elmo's, one of the cute little restaurants on 9th, and a place where Rachel Ray stopped in Durham for her television show, "Eating on 40's a Day". The food was great, but I'm really loving the sweet tea! I could be a southern girl. Then we spent some time at the pool in our apartment complex to relax.
