Thursday, June 21
We woke up and printed off the proposal and attachments and began our walk to the student health center. The weather was beautiful and not too hot. At the Student Health Center we met with Anna and grabbed a laptop to do some research on hypoglycemia. She had a consultation at 10:30 with a girl who wanted information about what to eat to help with UTIs. Cassie and I had done research on it and flipped a coin to figure out who would sit in on this consultation. Cassie sat in today, and I will sit in either tomorrow or next week on a consultation. While Cassie and Anna were in with the client, I began research on the healthier options from the Merchant On Points (vendors who deliver to students on campus using their meal plan). I found information on Papa Johns and Domino's Pizza items. All the others we will be visiting the restaurants to get their nutrition information because they are local restaurants that don't have the nutritional information online. The consultation took a little over an hour. After Cassie and Anna were done, Cassie and I went to lunch. Anna was meeting her mother for lunch. We tried Chick-fil-A, my first time. We got the grilled chicken wraps that were really good to my surprise. We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. Following lunch was yet another to the Lobby Shop to test our Devil's Choice criteria out on some things the store already sold to make sure our healthy snack criteria was accurate. I felt very successful now having completed the Devil's Choice proposal. All we had to do was turn it in to Anna now. We walked back to student health and discussed with Anna the consultation Cassie had sat in on earlier. Then it was time for the Real Deal script revision. There were some Healthy Devils, which is a peer education group sponsored by the student health center where students give presentation to university groups on various health topics. The Real Deal is a series of skits put on by Student Health during the freshman orientation week to introduce the various services of the Student Health Center and to make students aware of potentially health problems they may face during college like alcohol, sexual assault, eating disorders, etc. This was a lot of fun and the two hours flew by. After this we were done for the day and went to lay-out by the pool for a few hours. We headed over the East Marketplace for dinner again. It was very tasty as always and we saw our Kasikstanie friend again.
