We started the day at the Student Health Center. Cassie and I turned our proposal to Anna. After we touched base with Anna, we began to do some field work looking into the nutritional information available for the restaurants that deliver to campus. I may have mentioned before that these companies are called Merchants on Points, because they take duke dining points as payment, which is a very cool program. They deliver well after the dining facilities are closed. Some of the restaurants are Jimmy Johns, Papa Johns Pizza, and Dominoes. The rest are local restaurants that don't have chains, and you can see them at http://auxweb.duke.edu/Dining/merchants.html.

We drove around to the different local restaurants because they do not provide much nutritional information. It was fun to go into the different restaurants and talk to the managers about their menues, and the nutrition of what they were serving. None of them had a nutritional breakdown of their menu options, but the were happy to answer our questions about what ingredients were in their menu items. We stopped to eat lunch down on 9th street where most of these restaurants are located at a restaurant that served food from all over the world. After lunch we found a cafe called Francesca's that served homemade gelato and had to stop in to get a scope (scoop, thanks mom). Following our break, we continued to visit Merchants on Points for an hour or two, and not having much success decided to call it quits for the day. We went back to our apartment and worked with the online menues to pick out what we thought were healthier options. We haven't had a chance yet to sit down and discuss this with Franca, whom we are doing this research for. Our meeting is on Monday morning at 10:30. After the meeting we will have a better idea of where to go with what we found.
One of the restaurants we visited, Satisfaction, we decided to go back later for dinner that night. Satisfaction is a bar/grille that supposedly the college kids hang out at. It is in the Bright Leaf outdoor shopping area. We went to eat around 8:30pm and had great food and a good time. To our suprise there weren't very many people there at all, and it definitely was not a college scene. Despite that it was still fun. We headed home after dinner and watched some television.
